1 Bedroom Down, 1 To Go!

2+ months after starting, our Master bedroom is complete.

I took down the old plaster ceiling (Thanks, Darrell!), added a tray ceiling, crown molding and can lights, put up some craftsmen-style wainscot and painted it all. We even took a weekend trip and bought all new furniture from IKEA. My wife claims that we now have an "adult" bedroom. All in, I spent about 80 hours on this project...but that spanned about 6 full sporadic weekends....coupled with several other weekend commitments that kept me off task. Either way, considering the many projects I have going on around here, it was nice to break the 95% complete mark on at least 1. (Another special Thank You to Cher-Bear, who has been a huge help!)

We are now 7 months pregnant and are due about 10 weeks from today. We haven't even started on the baby's room. Frankly, the wife is getting a little antsy and so am I. So, I've come up with a solution to speed things up. I'm going to hire people: 1-Replace the windows (the only room in the house with the old wood windows and 2-Hire a painter. I know, who does that?! Well....Me, now. I take pride in my ability to paint and do all of our own home improvements. I think everyone can and should do their own home improvements. Its a great part of home ownership! At any rate, I've never hired anybody to do anything on my own home, but its well worth the $125 to have someone else paint the room. and I'll get an entire extra weekend to stay on schedule.

The plan is to clean out the room and prep for paint over the next 2 weeks...and get the window person here ASAP and the painter right after...hoping to have all complete before the end of June.

We'll see how it goes. I'm in Vegas for work next week, and the wife and I are taking our last "pre-kid" trip to LA/San Diego over Memorial Day weekend. Pray for us....and that the baby cooks in that belly long enough for us to prepare for her big welcome party!!!

There's an old fart in our neighborhood looking for paint work (and I don't mean me). If you don't have anyone in mind yet, I can get you his flyer.
