Last night, I felt the baby move. It was totally different than what I thought. I thought it would be like a tiny poke or something. Not sure why, but I guess that's what I thought it would be like. I mean, she's only 10" long with super tiny fingers and toes....but it was like she was taking a tumbling class from the womb..and my wife's whole belly was moving and bouncing. Way cool!
My wife thought it was just as cool as I did. I think she liked me having my hand on her belly. Every time I would say something, she would move inside there.
It's getting more real. For the last 2 weeks, I've been reading to the baby before going to sleep. Short children's books. It started off feeling sort of awkward, but I love it. I can clearly feel more of a connection with each passing day. I've been asking people to give me children's books whenever they can. I hope to continue this for many years, so I'll need plenty of books.
I can't image what it will be like when she gets bigger and moves around...or when I can see her move. Cant' even imagine.

On a weirder note. I kicked my wife out of the house this weekend and sent her to her mother's house. Not in a mean way. I'm just about done with our big bedroom project and things go better with her not around. Don't get me wrong...love being around her...but she either distracts or complains or critiques. Not a good combination for sane, quality and efficient construction. So I kicked her out. This is the 3rd weekend in the last 3 months that I've done this. I think she likes it too. She gets to hang out with her mom all weekend, with little responsibility for anything else. Sort of a mini-vacation. Plus, it becomes like a bachelor pad around here, with the dog sleeping on the couch, construction, screaming-loud radio and girl scout cookie wrappers scattered on the countertop. I hope to post some finished pics soon...then it's on to the baby's room!
