Upper 90% = "A+" according to this catholic school graduate!

Happy 2 weeks old Ava Marie!

Today, we went to the Pediatrician for our 2 week visit. Our 2nd. Young Ava has been a very good girl. She is eating very well and has gained over a pound in the last 9 days! The Pediatrician said that shes growing in the upper 90th percentile for Height and Weight.

We were so glad to hear this. Each day brings new questions and confusing situations. Everything Ava does is new for us....we've never done this before! So many people offer advise. Some seem like they're making stuff up, while others are so opinionated that you feel that maybe they take themselves and their baby-rearing policies a little too far....so talking with an "expert" feels great. We all do a great job at the doctor. Ava looks cute and poops her diaper, while Cara and I ask a "bazillion" questions.

Our Pediatrician is amazing. He comes from a family of pediatricians. He's a researcher and practitioner. He's in the St Louis list of "Top 100 Doctors." He apparently speaks French. He appeals to our intellect as well as our emotions. I feel like I just left a shrink every time we leave...because we we walk in full of anxiety and leave at ease.

Our next visit isn't for 2 months! Immunizations start then. We'll need to start reading up so that we're prepared for what she's getting. I bet we call him before our next visit, and I'll bet he'll talk us off the ledge. ...and I'll bet Ava will keep growing like a weed.

Here are the stats at 2 weeks:
--7/31/09
--9lb 8oz.
--21.5" long
--cute as a button.

Note: Dr Plax looks nothing like the picture. I just love "The Simpsons"
